How To Check Your Balance On The SASSA Card
There are 4 primary methods to achieve this and I will explain them one by one:
1. Leveraging on USSD Code
The use of USSD codes has made life so easy and simple. One of the great advantages is that if you do not have internet data, you can still use your USSD code.
The USSD code to dial to check the balance on your SASSA card is *120*3210# or *120*69277#. Just dial this code from your phone. But you should remember that it should be from the registered number that you used to apply for the SASSA card.

After dialing this code, wait for about 2-5 minutes, an onscreen instruction will pop up and you can then follow the instructions stated there to check your balance.
2. Using WhatsApp
Another efficient and vital route to checking your SASSA card balance is leveraging the use of WhatsApp. With simple data for WhatsApp, you can get your balance.
The following are steps to take:
- Save this WhatsApp number, 082 046 8553 on your phone ( for example, you can save it as a SASSA card WhatsApp number)
- Then, type and send the word “Sassa” to the number 082 046 8553 ( i.e. this number that you saved)
- Almost instantly, you will get an automated message asking for your status
- Reply NO, but if you have a reference number, reply with yes
- You will then be allowed to type and submit your phone number ( Kindly remember that this phone number should be the one you used for the application in the beginning).
- Within a few minutes, an SMS will land on your phone showing you your available balance.
3. Going Online
Virtually everything is done online in this present age, for you to leverage this trending situation, follow the steps below to check your SASSA card balance online:
Go to the main official website of SASSA at https://services.sassa.gov.za/portal/r/sassa/sassa/home, log in, and proceed to your status. However, you may encounter some errors, hence I prefer the use of the ussd codes or simply visiting any ATM portal of any bank.
4. Going to Any ATM In South Africa
SASSA does not have a standalone bank, hence, you can just visit any ATM of a bank, insert your SASSA card, type your PIN, navigate to check your account balance and it will be displayed or you can print it out ( if available).
