Top 10 Reasons Why SASSA SRD Was Declined And This Is How To Fix It ( R370 / R350)

I understand the pain, the disappointment, and the feeling of rejection on seeing the dreaded DECLINED on checking the status of your R370 or R350 grant application.

I said this because it happened to me, and I seem not to know the reason or reasons why it was declined. I re-submitted almost for the 5th time and was still getting the same declined message.

So, I took a pause and decided to unravel the reasons why my application was being rejected time and time again. After rigorous research, I submitted my SASSA SRD application for the sixth ( 6th) time and I was elated when I saw approved and successful.

I will be sharing with you the steps I took and the changes I made that made my application to be successful.
I will say to you, do not give up, with the current 26 million people getting an SASSA grant every month, you are next in line to join these people only if you will not give up and read through this guideline.

While some people argued that the days of the SASSA grant are numbered and may be scrapped because of some obvious coalition the ANC government is trying to form with DA after the former’s majority loss in the 2024 general election, I believe the grant will not be scrapped but rather modified.

Reasons Why SASSA SRD Was Declined And This Is How To Fix It

The following are the top 10 reasons why your SASSA SRD R370 grant application for June 2024 was rejected, declined, and voided along with the solution to fix it.

1. Already having Income source (s)

The whole essence of the existence of SASSA is supporting and giving money to those people without a job i.e. people not having any income.

This is the chief reason accounting for approximately 65% of the reason why most SASSA SRD for R350 and R370 applications get declined, rejected, and voided.

You must remember that the SASSA computer system is automated and highly advanced with virtually all South Africans on their database. So once you apply, the system will flag that you are collecting income somewhere else hence it will be declined.

Solution:

If you are genuine and honest that you are not working or receiving income elsewhere, just go to the SASSA office or right on that portal, you can upload and submit evidence/proof that you are not employed.

An example of an accepted letter of evidence includes your most recent bank statement ( not more than 3 months) and or probably a letter of sack/termination of appointment from your previous workplace.

2. On SASSA Grants Already

Please make no mistake about it, the computer system will scan and snuff around to check if you are already collecting other forms of SASSA grant.

If you are already collecting other types of grants like disability, old age, accident, etc, you are not qualified to get the SRD SASSA R370 or R350.

Solution:

An error can happen, if you are honest, just consult with SASSA and sort this out by giving them the necessary proofs and documents that you are not or no longer collecting those grants.

3. Vague Information Details

By being vague, it means the detail and information about yourself you gave during the application for the SRD SASSA R370 grant application was incomplete and partial.

More than 80% rejection rate of the R350 grant application being declined is caused by this!!

Solution

Do not be in a hurry to fill out the application form and after filling it out, check very well to make sure there are no errors lastly, try as much as possible to give out correct information. If you are not clear on something, just ask the SASSA staff for guidance.

4. Age Barrier

Only applicants and beneficiaries within the age bracket, 18-59 qualify to apply for the SASSA SRD R370 grant. Anyone not within this age group is automatically disqualified.

Solution

If you are within this age group and still disqualified, simply provide your authentic and validated date of birth document/ID.

5. On Government Benefits Different from SASSA

Beneficiaries of UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund), NSFAS ( National Student Financial Aid Scheme), and other forms of government intervention funds that are different from SASSA grants are illegible for the SRD SASSA R370/R350.

While most people do not know that this could be the reason why they are disqualified, it is best to do your due diligence and sort it out.

Solution:

If your name is still on the payroll of UIF or NSFAS, simply go there and request for it to be removed. However, if your name is removed and the SASSA system is still showing it, you just have to go back and request a letter declaring that you are no longer collecting funds from them and also present your most recent bank statement to SASSA.

6. ID Verification Problem

Having an up-to-date South African Identity card is crucial to the success of your application. The ID you submitted must match the one on the database of the SASSA computer system.

If it does not match or tally, then the application will be denied

Solution

Make sure your ID has not expired and the information on the form matches that of your SA ID.

7. Fraud Related Patterns

Some fraudsters may want to manipulate the system, however, the system will flag their application. They sometimes submit multiple applications either showing the same phone number ( or phone number used by someone else), ID, address, etc. that are already on the system.

In such circumstances, their application will be rejected.

Solution

If you are a victim of possible Identity fraud ( i.e. someone else used your details and information), go to the police station, report the issue, get a stamped affidavit, and report everything to SASSA showing proof claiming you are innocent.

SASSA internal staff will investigate to check and decipher and hopefully will sort out your application.

8. Recent employment history/Tax payment records

When you are recently employed and possibly paid the tax, the records show and remain there. Now, if by fate, you lost your job within the short time of being employed, the SASSA computer system may not have updated to show that you are no longer employed.

Solution

You will need to proof to SASSA possibly with a letter of termination that you are no longer employed. A genuine letter from the company is important to help validate your claim.
